Dr. Kuruvilla Pandikattu S.J.

Dr Kuruvilla Pandikattu (born 1957-) is a professor of Physics, Philosophy and Religion at Jnana-Deepa Vidyapeeth, Pune, India.
 
Currently, he is the Dean, Faculty of Philosophy.  He has been actively involved in dialogue between science and religion. Author of more than 36 books and 160 articles, Pandikattu is a Jesuit priest belonging to Dumka-Raiganj Province, India. He been involved in organising national and international conferences on science-religion dialogue. Dr. John Karuvelil, S.J. 

Dr. John Karuvelil is a Catholic priest of the Society of Jesus, commonly called the Jesuits. He holds a Doctorate in Biomedical Ethics from Boston College, USA., and is currently on the staff of Jnana-Deepa Vidyapeeth, Pune. He teaches Bio-Medical Ethics and allied subjects. Currently he is the Head of the Department of Pastoral and Moral Theology, and also the Coordinator of the Master’s Programme in Moral Theology. He has published many articles and book-chapters in various national and international journals and books. His publications include:

  • “Institutionalizing Ill-Health: Corruption and Health Care in India,” (2012);
  • “Dignity of Women and Elective Abortions in India: An Ethical Reflection.” 2013;  
  • “The Case for Genetic Medicines in India,” (2013);

Fr. Selva Rathinam, S.J. 
 
 Selva Rathinam, SJ, was born November 20, 1958 in B. Pallipatty, Dharmapuri diocese, Tamil Nadu. He was ordained a Jesuit priest belonging to Karnataka Province in Bangalore on December 29, 1992. His area of research is the Old Testament Hebrew Prophets. He is trained to apply postcolonial-subaltern methodology to the Biblical texts.
 
 He was officially appointed to begin his teaching in Scripture from January 1998. He taught courses like Pentateuch, Hebrew Prophets, Wisdom Literature, Hebrew Language, Biblical History and Archaeology, The Gospel of Matthew and The Vision of Jesus at Jnana Deepa Vidyapeeth (JDV), the Pontifical Institute of Philosophy and Religion, in Pune, India. He did his licentiate in Sacred Scripture at the Pontifical Biblical Institute, Rome and as part of it he also studied at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem. He did his Doctorate in Biblical Theology at the Jesuit School of Theology, Berkeley, USA where he applied the Postcolonial-dalit Method to the study of the Songs of the Suffering Servant of Isaiah. He also teaches at various theological Institutes in India. He has written numerous articles in theological periodicals and presented scholarly papers at the national and the international conferences. He was the Head of the Biblical Department, the Coordinator of the Master's in Biblical Studies and the Chair person of the Doctoral Committee at JDV, Pune. From 2014 he is the President of Jnana-Deepa Vidyapeeth (JDV), Pune, India.
 
He conducts periodically workshops in Ignatian pedagogy of education to the University teachers. He is involved occasionally in parish ministry and is regularly in preaching, teaching and giving retreats. In giving eight days and month long retreats he combines Ignatian spirituality with the Indian Biblical Spirituality as he is trained in Zen meditation under his Guru Amasamy from 1979, in Iyengar branch of Yogasana in Pune from 1992 and in ‘Experiential Psychotherapy’ under its founder Maher, a Canadian Psychotherapist.

This site promotes the orientation, activities, resources and projects of the Centre for the Study of Sustainable Futures and Spirituality (GCSSFS). The Centre is supported in the area of content generation, project execution, design and general administration by Public Media Agency (PMA),  Petaling Jaya, Malaysia under the direct care of one of their creative consultants, Dr. M. Nadarajah (Nat). Nat works as consultant on different projects.  He supports PMA on its various projects supporting social causes. Nat is presently engaged with Xavier University@Bhubaneshwar, India, with it School of Sustainability. He works with Loyola College@Chennai, India on issues related sustainability and spirituality. He is associated with the Centre for Diaspora Studies@MSU, Tirunelveli, India. He continues to support Pesticide Action Network Asia and the Pacific (PAN AP), which is based in Penang, Malaysia, as consultant on a project to set up a 'blended' institution, International People's Agroecology Multiversity (IPAM), to promote agroecology across Asia and the Pacific. He is also a member of the Asian Public Intellectual (API)  community.
